Ars Bibendi

Ars Bibendi Oy was established through a partnership between East Egg Expeditions Oy and Flindari Oy, headed by master distiller Marttaleena Ruohomaa. Bound by a shared vision for expansion within Finland’s spirits sector, the company marked a major milestone with the acquisition of Ägräs, opening an exciting new chapter in the brand's story.

Driven by passion

Established in 2015, Ägräs is a Finnish craft distillery dedicated to creating premium gin, whisky, and specialty spirits rooted in Finland’s natural flavors. The brand joined Ars Bibendi Oy in 2026, launching an exciting new chapter in its growth.

Leading this evolution is master distiller Marttaleena Ruohomaa, whose long-standing history with Ägräs brings essential continuity to the brand. Her creative direction has been central to developing an acclaimed portfolio that includes gin, whisky, aquavit, and traditional Finnish lonkero—each crafted using hand-harvested, natural ingredients.

By infusing wild herbs, botanical plants, berries, and local roots into every batch, Ägräs crafts spirits with a distinct sense of place—an approach that has earned the distillery international recognition and awards since its inception.

Company & Partnership

This exciting new era for Ägräs unites two distinct journeys under Ars Bibendi: Petri Saloperä’s vision of building a footprint in the Finnish spirits industry, and Marttaleena Ruohomaa’s dedication to the art of craft distilling.

Looking to the future, whisky will take center stage. Driven by a mission to champion Finnish whisky culture on the global stage, the team is preparing to launch the first Ägräs whisky of this new chapter in 2027.

“In our collaboration, I particularly value the trust placed in the entrepreneur and the freedom to develop the business in my own way. Having a partner to bounce ideas off of and look far into the future with provides both the space for entrepreneurship and the confidence and perspective needed for decision-making.”
